The Geese of Wenlli Part 8.

It was devastating for Ray to lose Little Pam, he spent most of his days following her death either inside the house with Jill or knocking on the door asking to be let in.

Still, after a week or two, he became used to the idea and began to live life to the full again, which included growing more feathers to replace his baby down.

'Twas then that it was noticed that there was a dark colouring on some of his new feathers. Now, within this gaggle it has been found that those geese who show dark colouring to their feathers are always female. So that started a major re-think about the sexing of Little Ray. From now on he will be known as female and his/her name changed to Rae!!

So, Rae was suddenly seen to be sitting down a little more often than usual. It was a day we visited and we were there to witness the discomfort in her right leg/foot. A subsequent visit to the vet resulted in a lot of happy swims in the family bath because poor Rae had ripped the tendon in her foot. After a few weeks of restricting walking the foot seems to have healed, thankfully.
